Our Verdict
The Nokia Lumia 710 might not be the most powerful phone, only its reliable performance, array of business and entertainment features and crisp display makes it a summit pick for first clock smartphone owners and those on a blotto budget.
Nokia's first Windows Speech sound, the Lumia 710 for T-Mobile, is here! Well, at least it is here in the PCWorld office. The Lumia 710 is actually hitting T-Moving stores and online on January 11 and volition cost an affordable $50 with a new two-year cut. I got a sneak peek at the European Lumia 710 back in Oct and–no surprisal–the T-Mobile version is virtually identical thereto. The Lumia 710 ISN't to constitute confused with the Nokia's flagship earphone, the Lumia 800, which hasn't made it to the U.S. yet.
The Lumia 710's specs won't blow you gone: Nokia is targeting new smartphone owners with this inexpensive phone. The Lumia 710 comes in black or gabardine and has a 3.7-edge in presentation also as a 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor.
The Lumia 710 certainly doesn't feel like a premium phone, but it doesn't look cheap either. The phone's shiny pliant is a fingermark attractive feature, but the soft rubberdized back lets you sustain a good grip thereon. The Lumia 710 isn't going to win whatever beauty pageants, just on the other hand, Nokia does refer to it as a "no nonsense" phone. If you're all near looks for your Windows Phone, you might find the slick HTC Radar more enticing (though it is double the damage).
The power clit is a little difficult to entreat as information technology is flush with the bezel. I'm not a monolithic fan of the seafaring keys either, which sit below the display happening a single plastic strip (see photo). Information technology just doesn't look very refined and feels awkward and uncomfortable.
The 3.7-inch WVGA display uses Nokia's ClearBlack technology, which supposedly increases the display's visibleness in bright sunshine. The sun was hiding in the San Francisco fog today thus I was unable to put under this to the prove. Hopefully I'll get some sunshine tomorrow when I carry the cram full reappraisal. Screening angles are healthful, yet, patc colors flavour bright without being oversaturated.
The Lumia 710 hooks into T-Raiseable's 14.4Mbps HSPA+ network rather than the faster HSPA+ 21 network. In a excitable speedtest exploitation the WP7 Speedtest app, I achieved upload speeds of 1.37 megabits per minute (Mbps) and download speeds of 0.5Mbps.
I'll be posting a well-lined rated review of the Lumia 710 tomorrow morning so stay keyed for a more in-depth look at its functioning and features.
